Documents Waiting to Print

Now, I’ll show you how to check if your documents are in a queue/line up and how to solve this easy to fix problem.

Click on start and then click on control panel.

Afterwards, click on Printers and other hardware.

Next, click view installed printers or fax printers.

Double click your printer icon.

Now if you have a printer queue/line up you will see a list of documents.   To solve this you need to select Document and click Cancel or you can click Resume if you wish to print these documents.  Although it is recommended that you cancel everything and start fresh.

Printing but not printing.

This is yet another common printer problem.   Your printer is printing but when the paper appears it is completely blank and nothing is written on it!!

There are 2 reasons why this might be happening:

  •     Your print cartridges (ink) have dried up or are faulty.
  •     Your print head has dried up.

To check to see if your cartridge (ink) has dried up, take out the cartridge, get some tissue and dab the cartridge with your tissue.

If you are only seeing small dots of ink on you tissue this is called bleeding the cartridge (this will allow for the ink in your cartridge to flow properly again). If after a few minutes, there is no ink on the tissue, it is a safe bet to say you need a new cartridge.

Now on the other hand, if you are seeing ink on the tissue but your printer is still not printing, then your print head is blocked and depending on how bad it is blocked, you might need a new printer.

If you use an Epson printer and you haven’t cleaned your print heads now is a good time to do so.

Paper Jam

You could spend a fortune to take your printer into your local computer store just to fix a paper jam or you can easily fix it yourself.

If your printer feeds the paper down from the top of the printer it may be that an object has fallen into your printer preventing it from printing.

To fix this turn off your printer and disconnect any cables which may be attached.  Turn your printer upside down and shake it and check to see if any objects are stuck underneath the rollers.

Also, your paper may have entered the printer sideways instead of the usual straight path.  Just pull the paper out and re-enter it into your printer.

If your printer is still not working, as a last resort try and re-install your printer driver again.
