You may be
thinking, “What is a defragmenter?” Well, the answer is
quite simple a defragmenter arranges all your data into one place on your
hard drive. For example when you click on start then my computer,
windows is now looking all over your hard drive to find the information
you need making the whole process slower. However, when you defrag
your computer, it will then know exactly where to find the information you
need.
Fragmented (from
Defragment) simply means the file is stored in multiple places instead of just
one as it should be. This is what computer people like to call a contiguous
location. Different parts of the file are scattered across the hard disk in
noncontiguous pieces.
To fix this all you have to
do is defrag your computer. If you haven’t done this for a while this process
may take some time.
Start off by
clicking start and my computer and then local c drive (C:)
then right click the c drive and select properties
. Here you will see different
information about your hard drive such as how much free space is on your
computer
The blue in the pie
chart is the used space and the pink is the free space. If
you see almost all blue this means your hard drive is almost full.
This could be one of the more important reasons your computer is
slow.
Next I want
you to click on tools on the tab at the top of the screen and click
defragment now.
