First, click on the start button
and in the bottom right hand column click on run.
Type msconfig, press ok.
This is where we’ll remove any
UN-wanted programs from your system tray.
A box should appear on your
screen. On your computer there is probably a tick beside normal start up. Instead you should tick beside
selective start up and proceed to click
on start-up at top of the screen.
You should now see a list of all the programs that you have
installed on your computer.
First, you should drag the slider across to the
right so you can see the full program. To
do this you should put your cursor over the line next to location until you see
a cross. Once the cross appears, click and hold dragging the line to the right
until all the words in the column Command are visible.
Once this is
completed start un-ticking the programs you
don’t need when your computer starts up. Leave the programs you want to
see in your system tray such as Bull Guard and your Sound Icon (Which allows you
to adjust the volume on your computer). If you are missing any program that you
need, just go back into msconfig and put a tick beside the program you
want.
When you are finished, click on apply and press close.
You will then be asked
to restart your computer click Restart.
Once you have
restarted your computer, you will receive a warning screen informing you that
you’re in selective start up mode, please
put a tick beside don’t show this message
again and click ok.
And that’s it! You can now remove programs from your system tray.
In the coming months there might be more programs that will load themselves into
your system tray, now you will be able to remove them yourself. You can always
come back and reference this program to remind you how if you have
forgotten.
